We can see businesses behaving responsibly towards our environment – you don’t get plastic bags any more in many shops, you buy sustainable, recyclable clothes, ecological cars, houses …BUT we are forgetting to ask what about IT services that we use every day – e-mail, videoconferencing, e-banking, laptops, servers – do we buy them from IT providers who think about our environment too? Well same as we gradually started to think about plastic, clothes and cars we will start asking about IT too. And our governments will react as well. It is just a matter of time when sustainability becomes part of the law. Preparing business models and IT technology infrastructures to cover sustainability takes time, and once it becomes a law, the required technology cost may go through the roof. So are you ready?
