Training Overview: This advanced training in corporate financial strategy and policy includes a review of basic capital budgeting and valuation issues. We will examine the necessity of evaluation in the current economic environment, and offer the possibility of developing tools to permit fuller evaluation of the issues involved in implementation of a strategic plan in a constantly changing environment.
Goals:
- Provide participants with an understanding of how financial policies, strategies, contracts and transactions can affect the creation and allocation of value.
- Enhance participants understanding of the relationship between conventional financial theory and contemporary financial issues as they relate to corporate governance and effective, value-based asset management.
- Extend participant competency for using financial analysis frameworks for evaluating the financial consequences of pursuing alternative courses of action using conventional analytical tools, including Excel.

- The nature of strategy.
- Linking finance and strategy.
- Venture capital & private equity.
- Valuation and analysis techniques.
- Risk and corporate investments.
- Capital structure (WACC) and financial instruments.
- Alternative financing strategies.
- Dividend policy and dividend irrelevancy.
- Credit crisis & Islamic finance (if time permits).
Training Methodology: 50% Theory, 50% Practical
This will be an interactive session, drawing from experience and prompting the participants to engage in discussions and analysis of case studies and the readings (provided by the trainer) as well as role-play activities carried out during the training.
